What is ARTISTA SOFT made of?
ARTISTA SOFT is a non food product – but contains no toxins or resins. Is extremely light to work with and once dry maintains a lightweight, virtually unbreakable flexible cloth like finish. ARTISTA SOFT contains its own glue -so sticks to itself and almost anything, apart from your hands. It can be coloured before using or afterwards.
The main ingredients are potato flour and rice flour. Is very safe to use but recommended for children’s use only when old enough not to put in the mouth (because ARTISTA SOFT has its own glue it could stick in the throat).
What can ARTISTA SOFT be used for?
ARTISTA SOFT can be used for any type of modelling or moulding. In place ofpaper mache, other oven baked clays or pastes; flowerpastes (for wedding cakes decorations or sprays) to make jewellery – table and candle decorations – dolls and dolls house furniture. For train or aircraft modelling -for card embellishments -napkin rings or any kind of craft work. It can be used for making moulds or veiners. It can be cut with designed cutters, scissors, or a craft knife.
How long does ARTISTA SOFT last and where do I keep it?
ARTISTA SOFT has a four to five year shelf life providing you keep It from the air. DO NOT PUT IN A FRIDGE OR FREEZER AND KEEP OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT Once opened, seal the packaging up again and place in a polythene bag and then in a polythene/plastic box. Small pieces of paste can be wrapped in cling film and kept together in a polythene bag and then in a box,.(Do not store in cling film alone only as this breathes).
Is ARTISTA SOFT expensive?
ARTISTA SOFT is sold in large packs of white paste, (150 grm) which can be coloured if required. White is sold for £5.00 per pack. ARTISTA SOFT “Hearty” also has the four main primary colours in smaller packs, (50 gr) at £3.00 per pack,(blue, yellow, red & black). All the colours are intermixable and when melded together can make a kaleidoscope of colours. The coloured pigments, called Hearty, are Artista Soft and are very heavily coloured, so therefore could have lost a little ofthe glue content, so meld with a little white Artista Soft.
How do I work with ARTISTA SOFT?
ARTISTA SOFT Is a modelling paste and can be used to model with straight from the packaging, However if it is too wet for you to work with leave the piece you are using out in the air to dry a little. You can also input a little “Nivea Creme” or ‘Trex’to meld the paste to avoid being too sticky.
One piece of wet paste can stick to another wet piece, one wet piece can stick to a dry piece but for larger projects where both pieces are dry then you can use either a little wet ARTISTA SOFT paste, or any PVA Craft glue, -“Tacky” glue.
Can CAKE DECORATORS use ARTISTA SOFT?
Artista Soft can be used exactly as your icing based pastes. However you will find there is a learning curve with the paste as it is a much softer and wetter paste than flowerpaste. All you have to remember is that when working with it meld a little “Nivea Creme” or “Trex” Into it, and if too sticky to use just leave in the aIr to dry a little. Remember that Artista Soft contains It own glue so will stick to everything but your hands, so rub your rolling pin, cutters and veiners over your greased hand. Cutout say ten pieces of your petals, then go back and ball or cocktail stick them. You can leave the paste a lot longer uncovered than you can icing based pastes.
You can if you wish use dust colours, glycerine paste colours or food colouring but you will only obtain pale colouring as Artista Soft is an opaque paste you need to insert such a lot of colouring to get it a deep colour that you will destroy the texture of the paste. So for deep reds, violet tones we recommend that you use the Artista Soft/Hearty colours. Remember Artista Soft is a non-edible paste and although the contamination between cake and the decoration is not a problem, but because you cannot cut through it when dry you cannoteat it. Use for decoration purposes only. Dried cake can accept a dry wired spray straight onto the cake, otherwise put sprays in a pick or container. Do not put block modelled object direct onto the cake, (the Icing and the Artista Soft meld together and crystallize) Make a small plaque or covered board. You can dust powder colours on when dry, steam – then glaze with Confectioner’s glaze. (FuII Glaze)
